Police Prevent Bhuma Akhila Priya's Fast-Unto-Death Protest in Nandyal
KURNOOL: The police on Saturday prevented former minister and Telugu Desam (TD) leader Bhuma Akhila Priya from holding fast-unto-death at the RK function hall in Nandyal, where TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested.
Akhila Priya and her brother Jagath Vikhyath Reddy were also taken into custody and shifted to Allagadda as her health condition deteriorated. She was rushed to Allagadda Government Hospital for a health check-up early on Saturday.
Condemning the police action, she questioned the validity of her arrest and expressed concern about being detained during the night. She asked how the DSP could seize her phone without her permission.
She also threatened to organise a 'Chalo SP office' agitation even if placed under house arrest. She asserted her determination to go on a fast-unto-death at the SP's office to avoid any potential law-and-order crisis and warned if anything happened to her or her brother, her husband, and her workers, the SP and Nandyal city DSP would be held responsible.
Earlier, Bhuma Akhila Priya had initiated a hunger protest in Nandyal town on Thursday, the same location where TD chief Chandrababu Naidu was previously arrested. However, the police denied permission for the protest stating that she should have conducted the activity in Allagadda town instead of Nandyal. They also warned of taking appropriate action in case of any violation of law.
