Will talk to Amit Shah first: CP Yogeshwar on future
Bengaluru: Not ruling out the possibility of joining the BJP, Chennapatna MLA C.P. Yogeshwar said he would like to meet BJP President Amit Shah before taking a final decision.
“I need clarity on some issues, including my role in case I join BJP. I am expecting a call from Mr Shah to meet him in Delhi in a day or two. If everything goes well, I may be joining the saffron party at the launch of the 75-day BJP Nava Karnataka Nirmana Parivarthan Rally to be held in Bengaluru on November 2,” he told Deccan Chronicle.
He said he had a meeting with his supporters and well-wishers in Chennapatna in which a one-line resolution was adopted authorising him to take any decision. “I have discussed matters with State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa, Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and former deputy CM R. Ashok. In fact, union minister H.N. Ananth Kumar wanted me to join BJP on November 2 in the presence of Mr Shah. But, I insisted on having a dialogue with Mr Shah. Mr Kumar has promised to arrange an interview with Mr Shah in Delhi soon for a free and frank discussion".
Except for seeking clarity on some issues, he had no problem in joining the BJP, said the former minister adding people would continue to support him. Replying to a question, Mr Yogeshwar said he was disgusted with the ‘vengeance politics’ practised by Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar and his brother D.K. Suresh, Lok Sabha member from Bengaluru Rural. The duo not only blocked funds earmarked for development of his constituency but also ensured that his growth was hampered. The humiliation, the suffocating atmosphere and the negligence of seniority by party leaders made him say goodbye to the Congress. “If given the responsibility, I am ready to strengthen BJP in old Mysuru districts,” he added. Mr Yogeshwar also met BJP national leader Muralidhar Rao and discussed with him plans to join the party.
