HYDERABAD: Countering the claims of some politicians that money was being distributed to every household in poll-bound Munugode constituency, many voters from Choutuppal mandal said that they had not come across any such thing.
Expressing anguish over such “misleading” remarks, they clarified that there have been only talk of money being handed over but nothing has reached them.
K. Yellaiah at Guddi Malkapur said, “No one is giving money. They are unnecessarily creating a fuss. There have been no inducements like supply of non-veg food. I don’t know where these are originating,” he said.
Locals have been noticing massive political activity ever since the time the byelection notification was issued. However, this time around, some traditional party voters have shifted their loyalties. The reason being cited is that they have received money. But these claims are being countered vehemently.
“Yes my husband , who is a leader, has shifted his loyalties. But whether he would stay in the existing party remains a question as there is every chance that he may jump to another party, sooner than later. He has not received anything till now,” said P. Sujatha from Choutuppal town.
Some villagers are eager to know how much they would receive.
“There has been a talk of distribution of money. We have been told by some political parties to take money but vote for them. It is being said that Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 is the price of a vote. However, no one has seen the distribution per se,” said K. Basheer, who runs a canteen.
