Congress, BRS leaders clash injures many in Bodhan

Commoners and a few Congress leaders confronted BRS men saying they had been neglected and there was no development in their villages

NIZAMABAD: Congress and BRS party leaders clashed in Yedapally mandal of Bodhan Assembly constituency on Wednesday. As per reports, MLA Shakil abused the Congress workers for creating obstacles for his election campaign.

The BRS claimed that Congress activists damaged the window panes of BRS MLA Shakil Amer’s car. Several BRS activists and Congress workers were injured in the clashes. The two parties pelted stones at each other, creating a tense situation.

Bodhan MLA and BRS candidate Mohammad Shakil Amer conducted election campaign in Ambem, Brahmanpally, ARP camp and other villages on Wednesday.

Common folk and a few Congress leaders confronted the BRS group saying they had been neglected and there was no developmental works in their villages.

As per reports, BJP activists also joined in the melee and chased BRS leaders in Yedapally mandals. BRS leaders, who are in large numbers, attacked the Congress activists. As a result, several people were injured, and some of them were shifted to Government General Hospital in Nizamabad.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Bodhan ACP K.Kiran Kumar said that the situation was under control in Yedapally mandal. Both BRS and Congress leaders lodged complaints against each other, he said. The injured persons shifted to GGH, Nizamabad and their condition is stable, he said.

"We are trying to identify the attackers during the election campaign’, he said. Police and election returning officials are coordinating to give permission to the contesting conducting by avoiding overlapping of different political parties, he explained.
