Siddaramaiah on the lookout for a house in Kolar
BENGALURU: Having decided to shift to Kolar Assembly seat to fight the forthcoming Assembly election, Congress leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is now on the lookout for a house on rental basis in Kolar to conduct his election campaigning activities and his supporters have selected a farmhouse on Bengaluru-Chennai Highway passing through Kolar for him.
Interested in letting his house on rent to Siddaramaiah, Shankar, the landlord told Deccan Chronicle on Tuesday that the deal will only be finalized after talks either with Siddaramaiah or his son Dr Yathindra Siddaramiah. Even if his personal assistant K.V. Prabhakar comes for talks and finalizes the deal, it is acceptable but no to other leaders to lend his farmhouse on rent. The farmhouse has three bedrooms and one of them on the first floor.
Shankar constructed a farm house in Kogile village falling inward 5 of Kolar City Municipal Council about four years back and was living in the house with his family members. The farm house remained vacant for a month before supporters of Siddaramaiah came with a proposal to get the farmhouse on rental basis.
"I don't need such a big space for me to live now since my sons are working out of Kolar," he said.
Siddaramaiah is native to Mysuru district and would be contesting the forthcoming Assembly election from Kolar and has made an announcement in this regard. In 2018, Siddaramaiah won from Badami in north Karnataka which is about 350-km from Bengaluru and he chose Kolar citing that the Kolar is closer to the State capital, about 70-km away.
On getting a house in Kolar, his supporters which include Kolar Congress party leaders have visited the farmhouse belonging to Shankar and have evinced interest in getting it on rental basis. Siddaramaiah is yet to make a visit to the farmhouse to finalise the deal, Shankar said.
Shankar, an agriculturist by profession, has moved to another house in Koroorpete of Kolar. He made it clear that he is not associated with any political party now and has been enjoying his life on the advice of his son K.S. Acuth, a lieutenant in Assam.
