BRS govt. pro-farmer, asserts KTR
Hyderabad: BRS working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao claimed that the Telangana government was pro-farmer and that the BRS stood for ‘Bharat Rythu Samithi’, adding that Telangana was the only state where farmers received the Rs 10,000 per acre input subsidy under the Rythu Bandhu scheme and Rs 10,000 per acre in financial assistance in the event of crop loss.
"Farmers feel safe and secure under the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. Even if by mistake farmers believe others, it will drive Telangana backwards by 100 years,” he tweeted on Friday.
On Thursday, the CM visited the four rain-hit districts in the state and interacted with the farmers. He had announced Rs 10,000 per acre to the farmers, including tenant farmers whose crops were damaged by unseasonal rains and hailstorms last week.
Rama Rao said that the GO pertaining to release of funds amounting to '228 crore was released within hours after the CM's announcement to compensate farmers for loss of crops in an extent of 2.28 lakh acres.
Recalling the CM's address made in Khammam, Rama Rao said, "Ours is a farmers' government. We have come a long way through numerous initiatives like Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, free power and free irrigation water supply to support our farmers and make agriculture profitable. We do not want this progress to go waste because of unseasonal rains."
