Rahul's disqualification as MP: Congress points fingers at Modi

HYDERABAD: AICC in-charge for Telangana Manikrao Thakre blamed the BJP-led government at the Centre for the two-year disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Parliament following court orders.

Thakre was earlier addressing a meeting of PCC fishermen at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday.

"It has become a dark day after the parliament secretary released orders disqualifying Rahul Gandhi from Parliament membership. The BJP is worried about his rising popularity with his 4000-km ‘Bharat jodo yatra’," Thakre said.

The Congress leader said that they would fight the issue legally. The party enjoys the support of the people, who are waiting to teach a lesson to the BJP, he said.
Meanwhile, TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy said that the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as MP was a deliberate act by the BJP, which ignored the court's decision to give time to appeal the order in connection with Rahul Gandhi's remarks.

Reddy, who was invited to the AICC meeting in Delhi to take stock of the situation, could only participate via zoom as he has been put under house arrest. The BJP planned to divert the issue of Adani by disqualifying Rahul Gandhi, he said.
