Congmen did not work in Tumakuru, says K N Rajanna
Tumakaru: Congress leader and former MLA K.N. Rajanna launched a scathing attack on his party men including Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwar and accused them of not doing enough for the success of JD(S) nominee and former PM H.D. Deve Gowda in Tumakuru parliamentary seat. Mr Deve Gowda lost to the BJP’s G.S. Basavaraj by a slender margin.
Talking to reporters in Tumakuru, Rajanna alleged that top Congress leaders of the district did not involve themselves in the campaign for Mr Deve Gowda and instead worked for the success of the BJP nominee which led to the defeat of the former PM. “How big a lead have these leaders ensured for Gowda in each of the assembly seats represented by them?” he asked while disclosing that the BJP for the first time has made considerable inroads securing a lead in even Madhugiri, a seat represented by the JD(S).
Rajanna and incumbent MP S.P. Muddahanume Gowda who was denied the Tumakuru ticket by the Congress had filed their papers as rebels but withdrew on the insistence of leaders. Rajanna and Muddahanume Gowda made their presence felt at a campaign by Deve Gowda and Siddaramaiah in Madhugiri but refrained from campaigning in other places.
