Suspended YSRC MLA put under house arrest

TIRUPATI: Suspended YSR Congress party legislator Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy has been placed under house arrest on Tuesday. The leader had planned a protest on the day to pressurise the state government to release funds for building a community hall for Christians at Gandhi Nagar in Nellore Rural assembly constituency.

Speaking to media shortly after being restricted to his house, the Nellore Rural MLA said despite Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy approving ₹6 crore for the community hall, it is yet to be built.

"On June 10, 2019, soon after taking office, the CM approved the proposal. He reiterated the same on February 3, 2021 and on July 27, 2022. However, the finance department has not yet released funds, despite the fact that we have been running from pillar to post for past four years," Kotamreddy said.

He pointed out that like for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, various Christian organisations are mobilising bricks for the community hall, as the government has not yet released any funds.

The Nellore Rural MLA protested against his house arrest when he wanted to leave for Gandhi Nagar in support of building the Christian community hall.

He announced launching of post card and social media campaigns for building the community hall for Christians. He asserted that he will continue to stand by people for resolving civic issues, building an overbridge at Pottepalem and repairing roads in his constituency.
