HYDERABAD: BRS working president and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday said that the Telangana government had made several requests to the Centre on pending projects and funds in the last nine years but what it got was a 'big zero'.
Despite this, he along with a few MPs and officials, had arrived in Delhi on the instructions of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to pursue the pending issues with the Centre.
"By meeting Union ministers, we want to tell the people that we continue to make sincere efforts to bring pressure on the Centre to secure pending projects and funds. But there has been no respons,” he said.
He recalled that the CM along with several ministers had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union ministers several times in the last nine years seeking resolution of pending issues, but in vain. If the Centre continues to ignore our genuine pleas, we will expose them before the public," he said at a press conference in Delhi after meeting defence minister Rajnath Singh.
Rama Rao informed that he will meet Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday on Metro Rail expansion issues, and that he had sought an appointment with Union home minister Amit Shah to seek land belonging to home ministry in Rasoolpura for road expansion work.
Expressing disappointment, Rama Rao pointed out that despite the significant growth and accomplishments of Telangana state, the Centre's contribution to Hyderabad's development has been negligible. He emphasised the urgent need for collaboration between the state and central governments to foster growth in sectors like IT, aerospace, defence, pharma, and life sciences in Hyderabad.
He asked union minister G. Kishan Reddy to provide an explanation regarding the lack of support from the Centre during the floods in Hyderabad, while funds were readily allocated to Gujarat and other BJP-ruled states.
Highlighting the significant financial contributions made by Telangana towards the development of economically disadvantaged BJP-ruled states, he emphasized that BJP leaders should express gratitude to the people of Telangana and the state government for their crucial role in the nation-building process.
