PK Sets Godavari Districts As Start Point For Poll Battle

Vijayawada: Maintaining that the Jana Sena has nearly 18% vote bank in Godavari districts, its chief Pawan Kalyan gave a call to the party supporters to begin a political fight for the ensuing polls from the place where they are strong to make the twin districts free from YSR Congress rule so that it can be repeated in the entire state.

Addressing party leaders and supporters from P. Gannavaram Assembly segment at Dindi in Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district on Saturday, the Jana Sena president was dismayed by the failure to develop Konaseema region where people were facing problems to get potable water as the aquaculture industry was polluting ground water tables. Leakage of oil and blowout of gas from pipelines of firms involved in exploration of hydrocarbons was polluting the environment and even claiming lives, he said. Though ONGC, GAIL, Reliance, Vedanta and others were supposed to pay two per cent of their profits for development of their areas of operation, nothing of that sort was happening, he regretted.

He laid on law and order in the state and wanted law to be equal to all. He was referring to the incident where MLC Anantababu allegedly murdered his former driver and delivered his body at the victim’s doorstep but he was not taken into custody. He said that though the alleged murderer belonged to the Kapu community and the victim was a dalit community, the culprit should be punished as per norms.

He said that when he was trying to present facts before the locals at Razole, some people tried to target him with stones. He said that this indicated that the change they were seeking had started in the society.

He was critical of the party’s lone MLA from Razole, Rapaka Varaprasada Rao, who switched loyalty to the ruling YSR Congress party. However, he thanked the people in Razole constituency for supporting the party despite the legislator moving out.

He said that he would set up party offices at Pithapuram, Amalapuram, Razole, P. Gannavaram soon and would meet all leaders at mandal and village levels in person in order to strengthen the party ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
