No Khammam event, Shah to meet TS BJP
HYDERABAD: Union home minister Amit Shah’s public meeting slated for July 29 in Khammam has been put off. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sources said here that Shah, however, will come to Hyderabad on July 29, and meet the state party leaders.
There was uncertainty for some time over whether or not Shah would address the public meeting at Khammam given that Parliament was in session. The details of Shah’s programmes in Hyderabad are yet to be finalized, party sources said.
Shah's visit, party sources said, will help the state BJP unit crystallize some parts of its action plan to take on the BRS government in the run-up to the Assembly elections later this year.
This is the third time that a planned meeting of Shah in northern Telangana districts has been put off. He was earlier scheduled to address a meeting in Mancherial in January and in Khammam in June.
The BJP was hoping to put up a strong show in Khammam with Shah headlining the public meeting, particularly in the wake of a large public meeting that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had addressed on July 2.
