Increased visibility, readymade leadership is BJP’s strategy for TS

ADILABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party is banking on the strategy of “increased visibility” among people to gain prominence as a dominant player in Telangana in forthcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections. That is the reason why it is organising some programme or other in all parts of the state, including erstwhile Adilabad district, to make BJP visible among people.

A host of union ministers, former chief ministers and party leaders have been visiting north Telangana with focus on projecting among people development schemes of the Narendra Modi government during the past eight years. In fact, people are surprised about the presence of so many leaders going around, particularly when there was nothing much to be seen or heard about BJP six months ago.

Union fisheries minister Parshottam Rupala is currently touring the erstwhile Adilabad district. In particular, he interacted with fishermen in Pendalwada of Jainad mandal and also visited Sirpur (T) assembly constituency. He said “Our party high command is making special efforts to strengthen the party locally from booth level. Our leaders and workers are underlining how state government has failed in implementing central government’s welfare schemes in the state.”

Earlier, senior BJP leaders, including former union minister Prakash Javadekar visited Boath assembly constituency and visited the historical Jodeghat of Adilabad district.

Union home minister Amit Shah participated in Telangana Liberation Day celebrations organised by the party in Nirmal and paid rich tributes to Adivasi leaders Ramji Gond and Komaram Bheem, apart from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Amit Shah’s visit helped BJP prepare ground for an aggressive campaign in the state, particularly erstwhile Adilabad, Karimnagar, and Nizamabad districts.

Tripura's former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb had lunch along with other BJP leaders as part of “Dalithathidhyam” at Allamkonda Ushanna's house in Jainad mandal headquarters and held a meeting with leaders of the party and its frontal organisations.

A key element of BJP’s efforts to gain prominence is attracting leaders of other political parties who already have a base in their respective areas. As part of it, it has roped in leaders like Palvai Harish Babu of Congress for Sirpur (T) seat in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.

It is eyeing senior leader and former union minister S. Venugopala Chary, apart from former MLA Aleti Maheshwar Reddy, so that the saffron party can strengthen itself within no time in Nirmal district.

Essentially, BJP is looking for “readymade” candidates to field them in the next assembly and Lok Sabha elections, without depending much on its own existing leadership.
