Ahead of Assembly Polls, Nominated Posts Reaching BRS Leaders

NIZAMABAD: Ahead of the Assembly elections, the ruling BRS is accommodating senior leaders in nominated posts. To avoid defections from BRS, the party leadership encouraged the second-rung leaders to take up the district and state-level nominated posts.

BRS MLAs are also coordinating to share the nominated posts among their followers. These posts have a tenure of two years.

If the BRS retains the power, the leaders will continue in nominated posts. If others form the government, all the nominated posts will be abolished and fresh appointments made. Undivided Nizamabad district is politically aware and its leaders aspire for MLA, MLC and other key posts.

BRS founding member Mara Gangareddy of Ankapur village was elevated as Markfed chairman. Former MLCs Akula Lalitha and Rajeshwar Rao were appointed as chairpersons of women and Christian minority finance corporations. The duo expected another round of extension as MLC, but in vain.

However, another former MLC VG Goud is waiting for a nominated post allocated by the chief minister.

Senior leader Tariq Ansari was appointed as chairman of the Muslim minority finance corporation. Tariq has been working with the BRS party since its inception, but he did not get any position for the last 9 years. Noted surgeon from Armoor, Madhusekhar, was appointed as chairman of Indian Institute of Health and Family Welfare Corporation.

Earlier, Madhusekhar worked with the Telugu Desam, Praja Rajyam and YSR Congress and recently joined BRS.

Madhusekhar has a strong base in Balkonda and Armoor assembly constituencies. To utilise his services in the assembly elections, the BRS high command appointed him as the first chairman of IIHFWC. Replacing Prabhakar Reddy, the state government appointed BRS founding member Eega Sanjeeva as chairman of Nizamabad urban development authority (NUDA).

Nomination of a chairman for Nizamabad agriculture market committee has not been done. The market yard limits come under Nizamabad urban, Nizamabad rural, Armoor and Bodhan assembly segments. Earlier, Nizamabad rural MLA Bajireddy Govardhan recommended Divya Dinesh as chairperson of the market committee.

At present, other MLAs are asking the party high command to provide an opportunity to their respective constituency leaders.
