Khammam: Several TRS former MLAs are unhappy and some have expressed their resentment to the party high command over alleged "lapses” in the recent formation of party committees in gram panchayats and mandals in Telangana State.
Former MLA of Aswaraopet Thati Venkateswarlu took the lead and wrote a letter to TRS working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao, citing several issues related to the new committees that were unveiled for Dammapet, Aswaraopet and Mulakalapalli mandals.
“The Telangana Udyamakarulu and youth have been ignored in the party committees. Some leaders with no public support were placed in these posts,'' he said, adding that the Dammapet party president post was given to Rajeswara Rao, Mulakalapally to Appa Rao and Aswaraopet to Bandi Pullarao, who were “not popular.”
“The same team caused the defeat of former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao in the 2004 assembly elections when he contested as TDP candidate. The group extended support to CPI-M in 2009 and to TD in 2014 and 2018. I would like to bring all the issues to your kind notice for the betterment of the party,” he said.
Venkateswarlu said Backward Classes were not given priority in any committee and the party cadres were surprised over the names that were brought forward. “TRS will face problems in the future with these leaders.” He also said former minister Tummala bulldozed his way through the party set-up in the Aswaraopet assembly segment by ignoring TRS MLA Nageswara Rao.
Though the other former TRS MLAs did not write letters, they are equally unhappy with the appointments.
Former Wyra MLA Madanlal said he was never consulted in relation to the formation of the committee in Wyra. “The party high command has given a free hand to the sitting MLAs in this matter as per the procedure in TRS,” he said.
Former minister Tummala Nageswara maintained silence about the Palair assembly segment, where he contested the 2018 poll and lost to Congress candidate Upender Reddy, who joined TRS later.
None of Tummala's followers were involved in the party election in Palair as per a word from him. Upender Reddy constituted all village and mandal committees on his own.
In Kothagudem, former TRS MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao distanced himself from the party elections. Former MLA from Pinapaka Payam Venkateswarlu too was not involved in the elections on the advice of former MP Srinivasa Reddy. These MLAs are angry over their sidelining but maintaining a strategic silence.
