BRS Leaders in Karimnagar and Warangal Districts Oppose MLA Renominations
Warangal: With Station Ghanpur MLA T. Rajaiah being assured of the Rythu Bandhu Samiti state chairman post in lieu of his renomination and speculation of RTC chairman post going to the dropped Jangaon MLA Muttireddy Yadagiri Reddy, several leaders in erstwhile Karimnagar and Warangal districts have started holding secret meetings opposing the renomination of MLAs in anticipation of getting some key posts.
Taking umbrage at the denial of party ticket and not willing to continue as second-rung leaders, some BRS leaders have already quit the party while some key leaders were resorting to revolt by gathering their supporters against the MLAs in their respective constituencies.
Of the 24 corporators in the Warangal East Assembly segment, 22 corporators belong to the ruling party and 14 of them held a secret meeting opposing the candidature of MLA Nannapuneni Narendar.
They alleged that they had lost their face in public due to the lack of developmental work in their respective divisions for the past four and half years. Apart from that, they alleged, MLA Narendra was foisting false cases against them for questioning him and threatening them over commissions.
The party was losing its image among the people and weakened in the constituency because of the MLA, the BRS corporators said. Many senior leaders and Telangana activists already left the party because of him and for not getting proper recognition in the party, rued the corporators, who passed a resolution against the MLA and decided to take the issue to the notice of party leadership.
In Peddapalli district, the BRS was receiving blows from its leaders as many quit the party. Upset with the renomination of party MLA, senior leader Nalla Manohar Reddy resigned from the party.
Former MLA Birudu Rajamallu and former municipal chairman Rajaiah, along with some party MPTC members belonging to the Peddapalli constituency, also quit the BRS and joined Congress in the presence of TPCC president A.Revanth Reddy.
BRS councillor Kolipaka Srinivas of the Mudiraj community, which is dominant in the constituency also resigned from the party and joined BJP in the presence of Kishan Reddy and Huzurabad MLA Etala Rajendar, aspiring for a poll ticket.
In the Manthani Assembly segment, PACS single window chairman Challa Narayana Reddy was holding meetings against ZP chairperson Putta Madhukar, opposing his candidature, and decided to fight against him in the elections.
On the other hand, Palakurthy ZPTC member K. Sandhya Rani decided to contest as a rebel against the party’s Ramagundam MLA Korakanti Chander Patel.
