Hyderabad voters unsure over Congress promises
Hyderabad: Hyderabad residents remain unconvinced about the Congress’ six guarantees, as, while many welcomed the promises — especially women’s welfare and cutting LPG cylinder costs — most of them harboured doubts on the timeframe for implementation.
M. Suresh, an auto-rickshaw driver said that political promises are made only for elections, although he vented at the BRS removing his name from the ration card. “Who knows what will be the fate of promises once they come to power? The Central government reduced the price of gas by Rs 200 recently with an eye on votes,” he said.
A domestic help, O. Shobha, said that she wanted the Congress to win as the BRS failed to better her life since statehood was granted. “The ‘Bangaru Telangana’ has remained a mirage. It will be good if the Congress gives gas cylinders for Rs 500,” she said.
Another resident, who owns a shop at RTC Crossroads, not willing to be named, said that the BRS must be retained as they are holding unity among religions and ensuring communal peace in the city.
L. Mohan, a tea seller, said that the Congress would do good to poorer sections, but that it has little chance of winning the polls. “KCR is giving Shaadi Mubarak and double bedrooms. Two hundred people from Musheerabad got double bedrooms,” he said.
Y. Venkat, a tax consultant, said that the government, irrespective of the party, must be changed to ensure better performance in public interest.
