Telangana assembly elections: Congress list in November
Hyderabad: While the Congress high command has decided to release the first list of party candidates in the first week of November for the upcoming Telangana assembly elections, the AICC Screening committee headed by Bhaktha Charan Das is arriving in Hyderabad on October 25.
AICC General Secretary and Telangana Congress affairs incharge RC Khuntia announced that they would release the first list of Congress candidates in the first week of November. In the first list, all sitting MLAs in the dissolved assembly, senior leaders and names for those constituencies where there is no dispute will be announced. In the first list there are likely to be about 50 to 60 candidates.
Meanwhile, the AICC Screening committee will identify candidates from BC communities and also candidates in the reserved assembly constituencies during its visit.
AICC Secretary and BC leader V Hanumantha Rao and other BCs leaders of the Congress party had demanded that party tickets should be given to two BC candidates in every Lok Sabha Constituency. In Telangana there are 17 Lok Sabha seats and Congress BC leaders want that 34 seats should be allotted to BC candidates. According to TPCC sources, the Congress will give about 27 seats to BC candidates. RC Khuntia said that they would give more seats to BCs than the TRS.
In Telangana there are a total of 31 reserved assembly constituencies — 19 for SCs and 12 for STs. There is a demand for tickets from the sub castes of SCs and STs.
