BJP leaders pin hopes on Modi last leg of election campaign

Nirmal: A large number of youths wearing saffron Kanduvas and carrying BJP flags were dancing to the tunes of the BJP party’s DJ songs in Gundampalli village in Dilawarpur mandal in Nirmal district Thursday.

BJP leaders say the party has rejuvenated itself in the last 20 days due to various political developments in the state, where its prospects dimmed in recent months. They say the BJP candidates are giving a tough fight to rivals in over 20 constituencies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting is scheduled for Nov 26 at the Nirmal district headquarters. Party leaders, who sulked in the past, now hope Modi would perform a ‘miracle’ at the Nirmal meeting like announcing a BC candidate as the CM and supporting the SC categorization in the previous meetings.

The PM’s meeting is hoped to improve the prospects of BJP candidates in Karimnagar, Adilabad and Nizamabad. Nirmal is the centre of these erstwhile districts.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, BJP national secretary Aravind Menon, who is party co-incharge for Telangana, said the PM meetings would help BJP candidates in erstwhile Adilabad, Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts.

he party leadership is planning to hold a huge public meeting for the PM address, by drawing maximum supporters from three districts.

BJP high command reportedly hopes the party would win 10-12 MLA seats from the three erstwhile districts.

Aravind Menon claimed that declaring the BC leaders as CM candidates and supporting SC categorization gave an edge to the party in the last 15 days. BJP leaders say their candidates are giving a tough fight to the BRS and Congress in 20-25 assembly constituencies in the state.

K. Anjukumar Reddy, BJP Nirmal district president, said their vote share also increased in the surveys, An additional 11-12 per cent voters backed the BJP after it announced a BC candidate as CM and extended support to SC categorization.
