No government guarantee given on Meil loan: FM Rajendranath

The complete liability of Rs 2000 crore loan rested solely with Meil and the govt had no involvement whatsoever in this loan, said Buggana

VIJAYAWADA: Finance minister Buggana Rajendranath has rejected the Telugu Desam's charge that a government guarantee has been given to contractors and the construction company Megha (Meil) regarding payment of bills.

“The complete liability of the Rs 2000 crore loan rested solely with Meil and the government had no involvement whatsoever in this loan.”

On Aarogyasri funds allotment, he said there was a significant increase in expenditure under the current government compared to the Telugu Desam's five-year period. “While the TD spent only Rs 5,177 crore on Arogyasri, the YSRC government has allocated a higher sum of Rs 9,514.84 crore, demonstrating its commitment to providing quality healthcare to the people.”

"These accusations are nothing but a desperate attempt to gain political mileage," he remarked.

Regarding the alleged irregularities in skill development funds, Amaravati's capital project, and the inner ring road, minister Rajendranath challenged the TD to provide concrete evidence to support such allegations.

He questioned the rationale behind embezzling such large sums of money without any tangible results.
