Siddaramaiah: My political life is an open book, the BJP is lying

The Chief Minister was on a visit to the constituency to lay the foundation stones of developmental projects worth Rs 197 crore.

Mysuru: Almost kicking off his election campaign in Chamundeswari constituency, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared on Wednesday that he had an unshakeable bond with its people.

"All these projects are being done to repay the constituency's people. It is my responsibility to do more and so I want to contest my last elections from here. As long as I am in politics, I am and will be with them," he said. The Chief Minister was on a visit to the constituency to lay the foundation stones of developmental projects worth Rs 197 crore.

Claiming that he had the pulse of the people, he went on to assert that the Congress would come to power again. "No matter what (BJP state chief) Yeddyurappa or (state JDS chief) Kumaraswamy do, they cannot stop us from returning to power. One can come to power only by serving honestly and not deceiving people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised many things such as achche din aayenge but has any of this come true? Has he brought black money from foreign banks and deposited in people's accounts? Where is the BJP in Mysuru, Mandya, Bengaluru rural, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar? They do not have winning candidates in these places," he said.

Replying to a question by reporters on the "chargesheet" that BJP national president, Amit Shah was threatening to release against him at a convention in Mysuru, he said, "My political life is an open book. I have not come into politics today, but became minister in 1984. People know me. They are intelligent and will not trust them if they lie. What did they (BJP) do when they were in power for five years? How many went to jail? "

Asked about Hassan DC, Rohini Sindhuri's transfer, the CM called it "an administrative matter." On JDS supremo, H D Devegowda's statement that he would not share a dais with him during the inauguration of Bahubali's Mahamasthakabhisheka he responded good humouredly, "I will not react to our yejamanru's statement.”
