BJP will step up agitation in support of unemployed, says Bandi

HYDERABAD: The Telangana BJP pitched for a new movement in Telangana, a state achieved by struggle and sacrifice, calling on everyone who took part in the statehood agitation to join hands to “defeat the KCR government” and to “create a Telangana which was the dream of the people.

“How long will you stay silent. Raise your voices and question the KCR government. The BJP is with you,” state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said on Saturday at the ‘maha dharna’ of the unemployed at Dharna Chowk, here.

Sanjay said the lives of 30 lakh unemployed were being destroyed by the BRS government. “We cannot stand by and let this happen. Come join hands with the BJP, we will take the responsibility of leading this movement for justice for the unemployed,” he said.

The protest saw many senior BJP leaders address the crowd that comprised students and unemployed persons holding placards demanding jobs, action against TS Public Service Commission officials and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao for the recent question paper leak.

Among those who addressed the gathering were party vice-president D.K. Aruna, MLAs Etala Rajendar, M. Raghunandan Rao, former MPs Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy and Vijayashanti, senior leaders N. Indrasena Reddy, A.V.N. Reddy who recently won the teacher’s constituency MLC seat, national executive member G. Vivek Venkatswamy, and former MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy.

Sanjay declared that once the BJP came to power in Telangana, it would release annual job calendars and will fill two lakh vacancies. The BJP government will also attend to the problems being faced by the 2008 DSC candidates.

Announcing that the BJP will intensify its agitation in support of the unemployed, Sanjay said the party will organise ‘unemployment marches’ in the district headquarters from April 2 to 6, which will be followed by a ‘Million March’ in Hyderabad.

“If required we will call for a state wide bandh. It is time for the youth and job-seekers to realise that the KCR government will not give them jobs. As far as jailing BJP and its student workers or others protesting against the government’s failure in the TSPSC paper leak, let us see how many of us they can cram into the prisons,” Sanjay said.

Sanjay reiterated that there was no question of going back on the party’s demands of the sacking of Rama Rao, or him resigning on his own, Rs 1 lakh relief to all those who prepared for the cancelled TSPSC exams, and a probe by a judge into the question paper leaks.

“The SIT is serving notices to those who question the government. Why is KTR not being given one after he claimed only two were responsible for the leaks but 13 have been arrested so far? KCR’s son is definitely involved in the paper leak and his role must be investigated,” Sanjay demanded.
