HYDERABAD: Buoyed by the overwhelming response to the Vidyarthi-Nirudhyoga Nirasana protest rally in Khammam on Monday, PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy asserted that Congress will win 90 per cent of the Assembly seats in the upcoming elections.
Revanth Reddy stated at the first protest rally as part of a series of protest programmes to highlight the TSPSC leak issue that the Congress had historically enjoyed massive support from the people of erstwhile Khammam while urging the local leadership to ensure that the BRS does not get even a single seat this time.
The statement comes days after minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar asserted that the BRS will win all 10 seats in the district, during the party's Athmeeya Sammelanam recently.
“Our party will win all 10 seats. The TRS, which only won one seat in both 2014 and 2018, should be reduced to nil this time. If you ensure that Congress would win all the 10 seats this time, including the one held by a local MLA, I will assure you that we will win 90 per cent of the seats this time," he stated.
Revanth Reddy asked the youth to support the Congress' ‘Deeksha’ and ensure the success of public programmes, including the concluding meeting to be addressed by AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the first week of May. The Congress leader recalled how the party fought tooth and nail to put pressure on the BRS government on behalf of lakhs of government job aspirants.
"When the exam papers were being sold like vegetables, NSUI leaders staged dharnas and were imprisoned. When I attempted to expose the government's failures, I was served with notices to muzzle my voice of dissent. The real culprits behind the TSPSC paper leak scam were not probed, but the government was witch-hunting those who questioned the government’s lapses. We will not succumb to the arm-twisting tactics of the government,” he asserted.
“The lives of 30 lakh youth were jeopardized by the TSPSC paper leak. The BRS government is playing with their lives. The confidence of the youth has taken a beating from the mishandling of Inter exams that claimed 25 lives to TSPSC and SSC paper leaks. The government which has promised to fill 1.07 lakh vacancies before coming to power now has 2 lakh vacancies to fill,” he stated.
