Congress to resolve Rajasthan crisis after Karnataka poll results
NEW DELHI: The Congress high command has decided not to intervene as the tussle between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot continues. The party high command is of the belief that any action in Rajasthan may deflect attention from poll-bound Karnataka.
The Congress leadership believes it can comfortably wrest power from the BJP in Karnataka, citing surveys, and feel any distraction at this time could be disastrous.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan AICC in charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, along with state Congress chief Govind Dotasra and Gehlot met nearly all MLAs and leaders in the state, except Pilot.
Pilot again asserted that he will continue his agitation to take action against corruption under the previous BJP government’s reign. Stating that he will not change his stance on ‘corruption’, Pilot said he has been ‘politely requesting’ the state government to take action against instances of corruption. He said no action has been taken despite his day-long fast on April 11.
After Pilot’s fast, Randhawa hinted at disciplinary action. However, the situation was diffused as the Congress high command intervened. For now, the top brass has decided to put the issue on the back burner and instead focus on winning the elections in Karnataka.
