HYDERABAD: Senior BRS leader Dasoju Sravan took strong exception to Union home minister Amit Shah's announcement to scrap reservations for Muslims if BJP comes to power in Telangana. He wondered how Shah could take such a decision when the matter is pending in the Supreme Court.
He said that denying reservations to Muslims will only lead to further poverty and alienation among them and lead to unrest in Telangana.
He mocked Shah's contention that the reservations so revoked would be provided to OBCs, which the BRS leader said was aimed at sabotaging Muslim reservations.
"It is another matter that BJP will never come to power in Telangana. Is Amit Shah bigger than the courts and above the Constitution? It is extremely callous that Shah is misleading people on a sensitive issue that is sub-judice," he said.
"It is only because of reservations that SC, ST and OBCs, who were oppressed for generations together, have come into the mainstream," pointed out Dasoju.
