Priyanka Gandhi finds Modi's 'Opposition digging my grave' comment strange
BENGALURU: Since Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to deliver goods for the people of the country, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday said that she found Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments of “opposition digging his grave” strange, and questioned Modi if it was an “election issue.”
Addressing a public meeting in T. Narasipura taluk of Mysuru district as part of her campaigning for the ensuing Assembly polls, Priyanka Gandhi stated “None in the country have such a wish to dig a grave for the PM and added that she wished his “long life.”
“Strange statements are made by Modi. Instead of speaking on the rise in prices of essential commodities and unemployment issues, he speaks about Opposition wanting to dig his grave."
It may be recalled here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made the comments in his speech in Mandya district a couple of months back.
Criticising the rule of Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre, Priyanka said that while the prices of essential commodities have gone up including school fees, medical expenses among others, ‘industrialists friends’ (of Modi) were benefited by the Government and the common man has been made to suffer.
She also accused the BJP government of not rendering any help to the poor deliberately since it had adopted a ‘suppressive’ attitude and said that the BJP fears that upliftment of poor would lead to them questioning the government on tax utilization.”
Lashing out at BJP national president J.P. Nadda’s comments of Karnataka losing Modi’s blessings if BJP is not voted for, Priyanka said that it was an “insult” to the State since many illustrious personalities such as 12th century social reformer Basavanna, Narayana Guru and national poet Kuvempu have blessed the land and that “No other blessings are required.”
Referring to unemployment in the State, she asked the gathering “Are you aware of lakhs of government jobs lying vacant in the State and how many of you got government jobs?”
Priyanka said “It hurts when you come to know that about 1.5 lakh government jobs are lying vacant in the State” and “Heart breaks when youths come to know that rates are being fixed for certain rates for government posts.”
She assured the gathering that if Congress party is voted to power in the ensuing Assembly polls, then steps would be initiated to fill-up the vacant government posts.
Over Nandini milk products of Karnataka Milk Federation, Priyanaka alleged an attempt was made to ‘divide’ the Federation in the State.
During her visit to Mysuru, she campaigned for party nominees in T. Narsipura, Hanur in Chamarajanagar, Krishnaraja Nagar and Chamaraja Assembly seats in Mysuru.
