Hubballi: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that teams led by ministers will visit the rain-affected districts in the state to assess the situation and provide necessary aid.
He spoke to reporters at Hubballi Airport on Tuesday while en route to Haveri.
"I am holding a review meeting at Haveri in light of the loss of farmers' lives in the region. Teams led by ministers will be visiting the areas affected by heavy rains," he said.
"Today, revenue minister Krishna Byregowda has visited Kodagu, and now along with the Agriculture Minister I will visit Haveri. In the following days, I will visit Udupi, Mangaluru, and Uttara Kannada districts. Fortunately, this month we have received ample rainfall, surpassing the normal levels, despite a shortage in June," he said.
When questioned about the BJP leaders' remarks that Karnataka faces drought under Congress rule, Siddaramaiah swiftly responded by pointing to the present favorable weather conditions.
"I am firmly against such baseless claims and blind beliefs. Floods and droughts are natural phenomena. The entire world is facing climate change. What do they have to say about the serious floods that occurred during their tenure in the state?" he questioned.
