HYDERABAD: The Congress gave unconditional support to the women’s reservation bill while 66 BJP MPs were absent during voting on the legislation, said Congress Bhuvanagiri MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy who missed the vote in the Lok Sabha.
“We could not attend the Parliament proceedings as we were stuck in traffic,” he said. Referring to TS BJP president G. Kishan Reddy for attacking the Congress for not securing the bill previously, Venkat Reddy said, “Kishan Reddy is giving statements to malign the Congress, though Sonia Gandhi said clearly that the bill is ours. We are the ones who stood by the bill all through and sought its immediate implementation. ” He claimed the BJP-led government passed the bill with an eye on elections.
