Congress Not Serious on Women's Bill: Kishan Reddy
HYDERABAD: BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy accused the three Congress party MPs from Telangana — TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy — of failing to be present when the Lok Sabha was voting on the women’s reservation bill.
Speaking after participating in a rally organised by women, he said, “The women reservation bill was passed by the Modi government in the new Parliament building. This is a historic achievement. The Congress which ruled for 60 years did not pass the bill despite it being discussed several times.”
He said that by constructing 11 crore toilets as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Modi government had ensured self-respect for women. He also listed free LPG to women under the PM Ujwal Yojana and handing over 70 per cent of 2BHK units to women. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao did not have a single woman minister in his first Cabinet.
“The MIM is the only party which opposed the women’s bill. KCR should seek apology for aligning himself with the party,” Kishan Reddy said.
