Modi to Launch BJP Campaign in Bhopal Today

Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to formally launch the campaign of BJP for the year-end Madhya Pradesh assembly elections by addressing a ‘’ (mega assembKaryakarta Mahakumbhly of party workers) here on Monday.

Mr Modi is scheduled to administer ‘Vijay Sankalp’ (oath of victory) to the party workers ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh on the occasion, state election management committee convener of the party and Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar said here on Sunday.

The proposed mega workers’ assembly would mark the culmination of five ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatras’, the mass outreach campaign, launched by the party in the state on September three.

“Around ten lakh BJP workers across the state are expected to assemble at the sprawling Jamboree Ground here for the meet”, a senior party functionary said.

“It has been the convention of the party to organise a mega assembly of party workers in Bhopal before launching the campaign in every assembly elections”, he said.

The party workers and leaders would spread across the state to campaign for BJP for the year-end assembly elections after the mega event, he added.

“The PM is expected to give tips on poll victory to the booth and ground level workers as well as the local leaders of the party at the Karyakarta Mahakubha”, the BJP leader said.

The proposed workers’ meet also coincides with the birth anniversary of BJP ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya.

According to state BJP president Vishnu Dutt Sharma, the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatras’ have covered 10,880 km across 223 out of 230 assembly constituencies in the state in 21 days.

BJP national general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Shiv Prakash, Union minister and in-charge of election in MP of the party Bhupendra Yadav, Union minister Mr Tomar, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state party chief Mr Sharma on Sunday visited the venue here to take stock of preparations for the event.

Meanwhile, heavy security arrangements have been made for the PM’s programme here with deployment of an anti-drone system, a senior police officer told this newspaper, unwilling to be quoted.

Around 4,000 policemen will be deployed to ensure law and order on the occasion.

As many as 26 IPS officers will supervise the security situation during the event.
