Congress Complains to CEC Against BRS, Seeks Probe into Medigadda Issue
Hyderabad: Congress leaders met chief election commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar in Delhi on Wednesday and sought an investigation into the Medigadda barrage incident, where a few pillars of the barrage sank in by a few feet threatening the structure.
The Congress delegation, which included TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, MP N.Uttam Kumar Reddy and AICC incharge for Telangana state affairs Manikrao Thakre, also submitted a representation in this regard.
They complained that the BRS government has indulged in huge corruption in the construction of the Kaleshwaram project and Medigadda barrage is part of this project.
The Congress leaders also complained to the Election Commission that the ruling BRS was resorting to distribution of cash and liquor to influence voters ahead of Assembly polls and urged him to take effective steps to curb the flow of liquor and money in Telangana.
In another letter submitted to EC, the Congress complained that the ruling BRS was trying to utilise Rythu Bandhu scheme to influence voters ahead of Assembly polls.
The party pointed out that the BRS government was taking steps to deposit the Rythu Bandhu amount in the bank accounts of farmers just before polling on November 30. The Congress urged the EC to take steps to disburse Rythu Bandhu amount before November 3, the date when filing of nominations would begin or after polling was completed on November 30.
The Congress also complained that the BRS was trying to influence Dalit voters through Dalit Bandhu scheme and urged the poll panel to to prevent such attempts to ensure free and fair elections in the state.
