KCR to Hold Meeting in Two Constituencies on October 27

Mahabubabad & Wardhannapet BRS MLAs facing tough time

Warangal: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would attend two public meetings on October 27 in the problem-ridden assembly segments of Mahabubabad and Wardhannapet.

The sitting MLAs Banoth Shankar Naik and Aroori Ramesh are facing heat from the local-level BRS leaders in their respective constituencies in erstwhile Warangal district.

As per the original schedule, KCR was to attend BRS meetings in Palair and Station Ghanpur assembly segments on October 27. But, according to a new schedule, the BRS party would hold two public meetings in the Mahabubabad and Wardhannapet assembly segments. “The sitting MLAs in these constituencies are not only facing tough resistance from their opponents but also facing heat from our own party leaders,” BRS sources said.

Notably, BRS leaders of villages like Kesamudram, Mudupugallu and Madanakurthi held a secret meeting in the Mango plantations, opposing the candidature of Mahabubabad sitting MLA Shankar Naik. They passed a resolution not to support the MLA in the coming elections. This has come as a surprise to the BRS central leadership.

The local leaders alleged that the MLA was encouraging his followers to indulge in many illegal activities and bringing a bad name to the party.

Before the BRS announcement of the MLA tickets, some leaders of Wardhannapet had met Panchayat Raj minister Errabelli Dayakar and vice-chairman of the planning board Boinapally Vinod and requested them not to field sitting MLA Aroori Ramesh again.

They were deeply disappointed when the party leadership, ignoring their appeals, allotted the party ticket to Ramesh. Following this, many leaders are keeping themselves away from the party and are not participating in the election campaign.

A BRS leader told Deccan Chronicle, “We opposed their candidatures. They indulged in land-grabbing of not only innocent people but also BRS leaders. They are into illegal transport of sand and gravel. How can we go to the public and seek vote for such leaders?”
