MP polls: Govt accepts resignation of dalit officer, likely to contest on Cong ticket
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government late on Monday evening accepted the resignation of Nisha Bangre who was posted as deputy collector in Betul district in the state.
She had tendered her resignation around four months ago.
But, the decision to accept her resignation had been held back by the state government due to some ‘procedural issues’.
Ms Bangre was given a show cause notice by the state government around four months back for inviting some foreigners to an event in Betul without taking permission from authorities concerned.
She later sent her resignation letter to the authorities concerned.
Ms Bangre wanted to fight in the November 17 assembly polls as a Congress candidate by quitting her job.
Ms Bangre had moved the high court and then the supreme court seeking a directive to the state government to accept her resignation following the delay in acceptance of her resignation.
The Supreme Court had referred the matter back to the high court for the early disposal of the case.
The development has paved the way for her to contest in the upcoming assembly polls in the state.
She may be fielded in Amla assembly constituency under Betul district by Congress, sources said.
The Congress had earlier waited for the disposal of her case in the court to field her in the seat.
But, the delay in disposal of the case in the court had forced the party to field one Manoj Malve in the seat.
Sources said the party was most likely to replace Mr Malve with her in the seat.
Mr Malve on Tuesday said he was ready to make way for Ms Bangre in the seat.
