Sangolli Rayanna Brigade no threat to BJP, says Limbavali
Belagavi: Senior BJP leader and party state core committee member Aravind Limbavali asserted that there was no threat to the party from Sangolli Rayanna Brigade (SRB) conventions being held under the guidance of Opposition leader in the Legislative Council, K.S. Eshwarappa who belongs to the Kuruba community.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mr Limbavali, a close associate of state BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa said that the moves being made by Mr Eshwarappa to hold SRB meetings will not harm the interests of the BJP. Instead, they would help the party mobilize the OBC vote bank in its favour in the future.
Party’s OBC Morcha convention will be held at Bengaluru on November 27 and it is doing its best to make the event a big success, he added. “The SRB convention can never harm the BJP, even we need more such conventions which should take place in future,” he said. The brigade has become a bone of contention between state BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa and Mr Eshwarappa with the former stoutly opposing meetings organized by SRB.
Meanwhile Mr. Eshwarappa said, “This time, there is no question of going back on organisaing a convention of the Brigade. During the conveners’ meeting at Belagavi, I have categorically instructed the SRB conveners that there is no question of halting this movement. Nearly 300 members have attended this meeting and will ensure the success of the SRB oath-taking function at Nandagada on December 6,” he said.
“We have also discussed how to organize the Kudalasangama rally on January 26 by mobilizing two lakh other backward community (OBC) members. Till we hold this mega rally at Kudalasangama, SRB meetings will be held in all Assembly segments,” Mr. Eshwarappa added.
