WARANGAL: After the Congress government removed dependent posts in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), it was the BRS, which re-introduced it and gave around 15,000 members dependent posts. Those not joining the posts were given Rs 25 lakh along with an interest-free Rs 10 lakh loan to employees for constructing new houses, said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
He was speaking in Praja Ashirwada Sabha meetings at Mancherial, Ramagundam, Dornakal and Bhupalpally Assembly constituencies on Friday.
Rao said that originally the state government fully owned SCCL. But the debt-ridden Congress government handed over 49 percent of SCCL share to the central government.
Because of the Congress, Telangana suffered huge losses for over 58 years. Even though river Godavari is flowing through Telangana, the Congress government never bothered to supply drinking water to the people.
It is the BRS government, which saved SCCL when it was on the verge of closure. Today, the SCCL is making profits to the tune of around Rs 2,200 crore. The Congress government gave only 18 to 19 per cent of share to the employees in its profits whereas the BRS government is giving 32 per cent, he pointed out.
Understanding the problems of Singareni employees, the BRS government passed a resolution in the Assembly to remove income tax obligation for SCCL employees and sent the proposal to the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, which was not approved, Rao recalled.
Modi insisted that the state government should stop purchasing coal from SCCL and instead purchase coal brought from Australia by his friend Gautam Adani. However, the BRS government ignored Modi and decided to expand SCCL, Rao said.
“In part of it I sent the Singareni MD to Australia and Indonesia and asked them to study about the coal mines there so that we could purchase two or three coal mines. As prices of coal have fallen drastically, I kept the proposal on hold,” he said.
Speaking in Mulugu, Rao said that it was the responsibility of the MLA to take to the notice of the Chief Minister issues concerning the people in his constituency.
“But Mulugu MLA never met me and never brought the issues to my notice. She never asked about any developmental work in the constituency. All the development that was taken up in the district was because of the initiatives taken by BRS leaders,” he said.
He announced that Podu land pattas will be sanctioned not only to STs, but even to others.
The Congress party leaders are making tall claims and are under the mistaken notion of a Congress wave in the state, he ridiculed. He said that Congress will never come to power in the state and if people vote for BJP then it is of no use as it will go down the drain.
Rao said that he had campaigned in around 80 Assembly constituencies till now and will visit another 20 constituencies. But, it is the people who should think wisely and vote for BRS candidates on November 30, he said.
