Hyderabad: To achieve the BJP’s Mission Telangana 2023, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is said to be strategically expanding its base in Telangana state.
After almost two decades, the RSS held its Vijay Sankalp Shivir in Hyderabad. The event will end on December 26. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat reached Hyderabad on Tuesday to attend the Shivir. He will stay with the sevaks for three days.
Sources close to the RSS say the main aim is to attract the youth towards the RSS.
According to RSS state secretary K. Ramesh, about 8,000 RSS members will be attending the shivir. There are 1,600 RSS clusters in the state. He said that the RSS organises training sessions at the district level for workers once in three or four years. There are 800 shakhas in Hyderabad.
In a joint statement, RSS state president B. Dakshina Murthy and Mr Ramesh said there will be a public meeting at Saroornagar stadium on December 25. The chief guest will be Mr B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, chairman of Cyient India Ltd and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will be one of the speakers.
Mr Ramesh said the RSS’s target is to reach every basti by 2024. “We have already reached almost all bastis. We have taken up 1005 service programmes and are a strong force in Telan-gana state," he said.
Sources disclosed that Karimnagar district is seen as a stronghold of the RSS. The leadership wants a similar hold on all the other districts ahead of the elections.
BJP president and Union home minister Amit Shah after the Lok Sabha election results had said that the party will focus on Telangana state to achieve power in 2023.
