MLC elections: YSRC likely to field Alla Nani, Gangula Prabhakar
Vijayawada: YSRC held a brainstorming session over the selection of its candidates for the MLA quota MLC elections. Though the TD intends to make their sixth candidate contest, the YSRC will definitely get two positions.
According to YSRC sources, Alla Nani from West Godavari has been confirmed and Gangula Prabhakar Reddy will be the second candidate from the YSRC from Kurnool on political priorities. YSRC chief Jagan Mohan Reddy is interacting with previously assured candidates and is convincing them to unanimously elect the two candidates Alla Nani and Prabhakar.
To attain one MLC from the MLAs quota, 23 MLAs are required. The YSRC has 46 MLAs at present, out of which two MLC positions have been defined for the YSRC. But the TD is trying its level best that this doesn’t happen and is trying to grab three to five MLAs by the operation Aakarsh. The TD's intention is to suffocate the YSRC by dividing their MLAs and creating tension in the YSRC in selecting their candidates.
But at the same time the YSRC believes that Mr Chandrababu Naidu will not opt for voting procedures as it will shed light on defected YSRC MLAs on record. In this case, it will create a controversy for which Mr Naidu will not take a move for operation Aakarsh. With this, the YSRC is selecting its candidates on political equations.
Alla Nani and Vellampalli Srinivas were assured of positions earlier, but keeping in mind the situation in the party, had voluntarily dropped out of the YSRC commitment and informed this to party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, that he will go for the Assembly in the coming General elections reportedly. The YSRC is now working on strategies to make use of this opportunity.
