AP BJP president Purandeswari calls for state-wide stir on August 10

Vijayawada: BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari on Tuesday called for a state-wide agitation on August 10 in support of demand by gram panchayat sarpanches for more funds.

Addressing party leaders and activists of the coastal zone in Guntur, she also called for a massive stir in Vijayawada on the same issue on August 17, demanding that the state government meet the demand of sarpanches.

In this context, she called upon party workers to explain to people the welfare schemes and developmental works taken up in AP by the centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier, speaking to the media , Purandeswari criticised those who, she said, are spreading misinformation that the BJP government at the Centre has done nothing for AP. She maintained that the centre has sanctioned more houses for AP and extended ₹1.80 lakh for construction of each house. She demanded that the YSRC government release a white paper on the numbers of houses it has built in the state and from where the funds had come.

The state BJP president underlined that the Union government has sanctioned several educational institutions and is contributing 50 per cent of funds for starting the newly sanctioned medical colleges in the state.

She declared that the centre sanctioned over ₹2,000 crore for development of Amaravati by declaring it as a smart city.

On AP government constructing houses for the poor in R-5 zone of Amaravati, Purandeswari said houses in the zone must also be allotted to farmers from the region. She slammed the YSRC government for trying to sell medical seats in the five new medical colleges being started in Andhra Pradesh.

The AP BJP chief said her party’s national leadership will take a decision on the party’s political alliance with other parties in AP at an appropriate time. She underlined that they have lodged a complaint with ECI on bogus votes in AP.
