BRS govt betraying jobless youth by denying unemployment allowance: Congress
Hyderabad: The Congress on Tuesday said the BRS government owned each jobless individual Rs 1.65 lakh, at the rate of Rs 3,016 per month for 55 months, in the form of unemployment allowance which it had promised in 2018. Instead of paying this, it was offering unemployed persons a meagre Rs 1 lakh loan in its place.
Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin said the government’s empty pledges had left the unemployed persons feeling cheated and disillusioned. "The promised allowance, meant to support the jobless youth, has become a distant dream. Instead, BRS leaders are conveniently shifting their focus to the Rs 1 lakh loan," he said.
The TPCC spokesperson stated that the BRS government has done nothing to address the issue of unemployment among the youth in the last nine years. The BRS government was trying to distract all communities with promises of loans, such as Dalit Bandhu and loans for BCs and minorities. "These tactics are meant to mislead and deceive the very citizens they are supposed to serve," he said.
Nizamuddin said that the Dalit Bandhu scheme was introduced in 2021 to provide financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to 17 lakh SC families. He said not even 17,000 families had received any assistance.
