EC allots Road Roller symbol for city-based Yuga Tulasi party
Hyderabad: It was a nightmare to the ruling BRS party after the Election Commission allocated the Road Roller symbol to the Yuga Tulasi party in Telangana. Earlier, the BRS party made objections in allotting Road Roller which resembles the BRS party's car symbol.
The Election Commission has conducted a draw of lots in allotting party symbols and it was allotted to Yuga Tulasi party. The EC officials stated that the Yuga Tulasi party candidates may contest on the symbol of Road Roller in Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in both Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
During the Munugode by polls, the ruling BRS party made objections and submitted representations to the Election Commission to remove the Road Roller symbol which is resembling their symbol. It was a sensational issue that the returning Officer Jaganatha Rao removed the symbol. Following the complaint of Yuga Tulasi party chief Kolisetty Shiva Kumar, the Election Commission took action against the returning office by transferring him.
Following the ensuing Assembly election, the election commission conducted a draw of lots in Delhi to allot a Road Roller symbol between two political parties- Yuga Tulasi Party and Alliance of Democratic Reforms Party. In the draw of lots, the symbol was allotted to the Yuga Tulasi party.
During the elections, the political party's symbols would create differences in getting votes. For Instance: independent candidates in Munugode by-polls secured as many as 6,000 votes as the ruling BRS party secured a majority of votes of 10,000. The car looks like a symbol camera, Chapati roller and Road roller received thousands of votes.
In the 2018 Assembly elections, the camera symbol got 9052 votes in Munugode constituency and the Road Roller party got 3569 votes.
The Yuga Tulasi party President K Shiva Kumar also founded a political party in 2010 by the name of YSRCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) and later handed over the party to Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Shiva Kumar also worked as a TTD member.
