We don't need to take bribes: Bhuvaneswari

Kakinada: Former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s wife Nara Bhuvaneswari has said there is no necessity for her family including her husband to earn money through illegal means.

“We have too much money and we don't need to take bribes. Besides, we are serving the people through the NTR Trust.” She hoped that her husband would come out of jail clean and keep working for the people.

Telugu Mahila activists and TD activists led by former MLA Jyothula Apparao observed a hunger strike at Jaggampeta on Monday in protest against the arrest of Naidu.

Bhuvaneswari and her daughter-in-law Brahmani participated in the protest and expressed their resentment over the governmental action against the TD chief.

Bhuvaneswari said Naidu was arrested on charges of looting the people’s money. “Our family doesn’t need people’s money. I am running the Heritage company. If I sell 2 per cent of our product, we can earn Rs 400 crore.”

“Our family grew under the leadership of N.T. Rama Rao, who believed the society was a temple and the people were the gods. We are serving the people through the NTR Trust, which renders free education to 2,000 orphans. Either I or my daughter-in-law Brahmani has not come to the roads so far. But, now, the situation is different. The government falsely framed charges against Chandrababu, who always think for the development of the people,’’ she said.

She noted that Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, Alluri Sitarama Raju and other freedom fighters too were imprisoned. “They went to jail for the sake of the country during British rule,” she said.

She said, “Chandrababu built a Hitec city in the area of stones and gravel in Hyderabad. At that time, everyone laughed at the idea, asking, how a high-tech city in an area with no facilities. Now, thousands of people are working there and the government is getting revenue through IT sale and export. It is proven that Chandrababu is a wealth-creating leader.”

“The youths who obtained training in the skill development corporation are holding high positions and getting salaries in lakhs. Is it wrong to change young lives for the better,” she asked.

Bhuvaneswari pointed out that the police stopped IT professionals coming from Hyderabad to Rajamahendravaram to express their solidarity with Chandrababu. She alleged that the police snatched their cell phones and stole their information.

She condemned the police act and asked the government, "Should those who come to Andhra Pradesh from Telangana need to take a visa?”

Earlier, she along with the NTR family members took darshan of Lord Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Murthy at Annavaram and offered special poojas. Former home minister China Rajappa, former MLAs Vanamadi Venkateswara, SVSN Varma, Tuni TD incharge Yanamala Divya, TD Kakinada district president Jyothula Navin and others were present.
