Congress, BJP fear going to people, says YSRC whip

They do not approach people, who may question them about special status for AP, non-fulfilment of state bifurcation guarantees

KADAPA: Government chief whip Gadikota Srikanth Reddy said leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress are afraid of going to people at field level fearing they might be questioned as to what their contribution is to newly formed AP.

Speaking to reporters on Monday at the party office in Badvel, which is going for a by-poll, he pointed out that union ministers and national leaders of BJP and Congress are confining their campaign in Badvel to press conferences for slinging mud at the state government.

“They do not approach people, who may question them about special status for AP, non-fulfilment of state bifurcation guarantees and non-approval of three capitals proposal,” he remarked.

Srikanth Reddy said for YSRC, the state’s interests are more important than political interests. "We are ready to make any sacrifice for the state," he maintained. "In addition to special status for AP, give us Dugarajapatnam Port and Kadapa Steel Plant. We will withdraw from the competition and support you,” the government chief whip stated.
