KTR writes to Modi, terms Rozgar Mela a \'cruel joke\' on unemployed youth
HYDERABAD: TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao called the ‘Rozgar Mela’ inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide jobs to 10 lakh people as yet another 'drama'. He said it was 'cruel' by the PM to betray youth and the unemployed only for gains in the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections.
In an open letter to the PM on Tuesday, Rama Rao alleged that it had become a practice for PM to indulge in such acts of betrayal before elections. Rama Rao reminded Modi of his promise to provide 2 crore jobs to youth every year, made during the 2014 Lok Sabha poll campaign, and dared Modi to release a white paper on the jobs provided in the last eight years.
He said the TS government had 2.24 lakh jobs in the government sector and 16.5 lakh jobs in the private sector in eight years.
"The BJP government could not fill even 50,000 posts per year. But now you claiming that you will provide employment to 75,000 youths through Rozgar Mela. I am sure unemployed and youth in the country are keenly watching your false claims on jobs," Rao noted.
He alleged that due to privatisation and clsoure of PSUs (public sector undertakings) in the last eight years, over 2 lakh regular employees have lost jobs.
Rama Rao demanded that the PM take concrete steps to issue notifications immediately to fill all the vacancies in various central government departments first instead of indulging in 'cheap publicity stunts' in the name of rozgar melas.
