12 per cent quota for Muslims will affect others: Amit Shah
Hyderabad: BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday projected the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeem (MIM) as a threat to Telangana state and that no party other than the BJP could free the people from it.
“Only BJP can relieve the people of Telangana from the rowdyism of the AIMIM,” the BJP chief said at this campaign meeting at Dubbak, about 100 km from here in Medak district.
Mr Amit Shah said, “There is a triangular competition in the Telangana elections. People should decide whose government should be formed. The BJP government will give relief to the people from the dadagiri (rowdyism) of MIM. Only the BJP can save Telangana from the Owaisis. Can they (the Mahakutami and TRS) do so?”
Mr Amit Shah tried to scare the SC, ST and BC communities by saying that their reservations could be cut in order to implement the 12 per cent reservations for the Muslim community.
He said, “KCR (caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao) is under pressure from Owaisi and therefore brought up the issue of 12 per cent reservations to Muslims. As per the Supreme Court orders, the reservations can’t be more than 50 per cent and in order to implement Muslim reservations, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao should answer who’s reservations among the SCs, STs and BCs will be cut.”
The BJP president also promised to celebrate Hyder-abad Liberation Day in every village of the state if the party was voted to power. He alleged that the TRS, which had promised grand celebrations on September 17 was not even celebrating the day because of the pressure from the MIM.
Mr Shah slammed the Telangana Rashtra Sa-miti for not fulfilling the promises made in the previous elections. He said, “Chandrasekhar Rao failed in providing water to the people with only 37 per cent being able to access it, about 2.5 lakh jobs are vacant but the youth remain jobless.”
Mr Shah said: The CM is not bothered about farmers’ suicide. The Chief Minister did not have time to visit the victims of Kondagattu accidents in which 65 people died. Mr Chandrasekhar Rao was not even implementing central schemes like Ayushman Bharat that can help the poor in medical treatments.”
