Only Congress Govt Can Fulfil Dreams of Telangana: Priyanka
HYDERABAD: AICC leader Priyanka Gandhi said that dreams of the Telangana people would be realised only with a strong government in place. For the last 10 years under the BRS, the people were unable to get the real benefits of separate state, she said.
On her second day of campaigning in the state, Priyanka Gandhi said that the “true colours” of Chief Minsiter K. Chandrashekar Rao came out after he assumed office. “He ignored the aspirations of people and amassed wealth for his family members and henchmen,” she alleged.
Priyanka Gandhi election meetings in Khammam, Palair, Sathupally and Madhira constituencies in undivided Khammam district on Saturday. Quoting former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s words, Priyanka Gandhi said that political leaders needed honesty in their hearts to serve the people.
“Indira ji had strongly believed that people are above all leaders and they can easily identify the ‘intentions’ of the leaders,” she said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chandrashekar Rao believed that they were above the people and ignored their aspirations, she said.
“Before reaching Khammam district, I spoke to my mother (Sonia Gandhi) and she told me about the sacrifices of people for Telangana and people who believe only in the truth,” she said. “Chandrashekar Rao cheated the unemployed youths and provided political jobs to his family members,” she said.
She called upon youths to throw out the BRS government so that they could get jobs when the Congress came to power after the elections. The BRS government is responsible for high level corruption and commissions, she alleged.
The Congress gave statehood so that farmers, women, youths and students are benefited, and not to help Rao and his family, the Congress leader said. “BRS came to power with false promises and destroyed the fortunes of Telangana.” she said.
She said that wealth was distributed among people and youths were provided jobs in Congress-ruled states. The party would implement the Six Guarantees for the benefit of all sections of the people.
She chanted the ‘Maarpu Kaavali-Congress Raavali’ slogan, danced with tribal women and held a baby in her arms, to loud cheers.
She patiently addressed election campaign meeting in Madhira, where technical problems erupted during her speech. Priyanka Gandhi asked people to vote for Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
