MP LS polls: Mohan ministry turns to election mode, sets agenda for 2024 LS polls

Bhopal: The first meeting of the state council of ministers, held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, set its agenda keeping in view the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The meeting has decided to prepare the roadmap for the implementation of the ‘Sankalp Patra’ (election manifesto) of BJP, termed as ‘Modi guarantees’, over two and half months before the model code of conduct comes into force ahead of the ensuing LS polls, due in May-June next year, sources said.

“It was an informal meeting of the state council of ministers. The chief minister reminded all the ministers that they need to start preparations for the upcoming LS polls in their assigned areas since the parliamentary elections are approaching fast”, Chaitanya Kashyap, the newly inducted minister in the Mohan cabinet, said after the meeting.

“We are working in mission mode to achieve our target to win all the 29 LS seats in Madhya Pradesh for BJP in 2024 polls”, he added.

Riding piggyback on the ‘Modi wave’, BJP had secured 28 out of 29 LS seats in Madhya Pradesh in the last polls.

Sources disclosed to this newspaper that the chief minister asked the ministers to coordinate among themselves to prepare the roadmap for the implementation of the party’s poll manifesto in the coming two and half months.

“The impact of the ‘Modi guarantees’ should be visible on the ground by the middle of March next year before the enforcement of election code of conduct (expected by end of March)”, sources quoted Mr. Yadav as saying.

Sources said the chief minister has particularly asked the ministers and the officers to strictly monitor the implementation of the welfare schemes of the state government as well as the Centre to ensure that the benefits of these programmes are reaching the beneficiaries.

Mr Yadav expanded his ministry on Monday by inducting 28 new ministers, 17 of whom are first-time ministers. Of them, seven are first-time MLAs.

Mr Yadav along with two deputy chief ministers Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda had earlier on December 13 taken oath of office and secrecy.
