Kalaburagi: Continuing his tirade against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, BJP President Amit Shah took him to task for “letting down” the Other Backward Classes(OBCs) in the state.
Addressing an OBC rally here on Monday, Mr Shah said Mr Siddaramaiah came to power chanting the AHINDA mantra. “But after coming to power, he has totally forgotten the interest of AHINDA sections and has been speaking only about the minorities”, Mr Shah remarked.
Asserting that the OBCs, who constituted a major chunk of voters in the state, would play a decisive role in forming the next BJP government in the state, Mr Shah said when B.S. Yeddyurappa was Chief Minister, he had initiated many measures for the OBCs. Similarly, the Modi government, whose mantra was Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas, had also launched many programmes to benefit the OBCs.
“But due to the hindrances created by the Congress, these sections have not benefitted. One of the major demands of OBCs was to grant constitutional status to the OBC Commission. We introduced the Bill and passed it in the Lok Sabha. But due to lack of majority in the Rajya Sabha, the Congress did not allow us to pass it. Hence the Bill is pending. Mr Siddaramaiah should ask his party leaders why the Bill has been allowed to be defeated. This is the dual policy of the Congress”, Mr Shah asserted.
Earlier during an interaction with the media, Mr Shah termed the Siddaramaiah government as the most corrupt.
When his attention was drawn to the Congress stand that the allegation was baseless, Mr Shah retorted, “there is no need for providing any proof. The Chief Minister’s credibility is itself proof. If this government was not corrupt, how could the Chief Minister wear an expensive watch?” Mr Shah also took the Siddaramaiah government to task on the rise of goondaism and also the killing of Hindu activists.
