HYDERABAD: The emotive speech of AICC leader Rahul Gandhi has inspired Telangana leaders so much that they feel that the party has a strong leadership that understands India better. This was the conclusion from the reactions of the state leaders who attended the party’s three-day plenary. They are ‘inspired’ to take forward his message and 'untiring efforts' to bring unity.
CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who was the only leader from the state to speak at the plenary, described Rahul's speech as thought-provoking as it not only raised issues people were facing but also had solutions.
"He was showing a direction to the cadre as he spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Adani and issues the country is facing. The resolutions were adopted after deep deliberations. Congress will come up with required amendments in parliament to ensure India remains a democratic nation, once the party comes to power," he said.
Former PCC chief V. Hanumantha Rao, who was ecstatic at Rahul Gandhi’s speech, said that it reflected his experience through the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which helped him to grasp and understand the real India. "During his four-month walkathon covering thousands of kilometres, he was moved to see the pain and sufferings of the common man. Here's a man, who has the ability to bring everyone together to achieve the India that our forefathers envisioned," Rao told Deccan Chronicle.
However, some were disappointed as barring Bhatti none of them could get to address the plenary.
"Like me, some senior leaders had jotted down points vis-à-vis the party and Telangana. Unfortunately, we were not given a chance to speak. Well, it was a decision taken at the highest level," said a senior leader, seeking anonymity.
Some leaders had to stay back, owing to transportation issues at Raipur. "The flights were all full as many decided to fly back immediately. Some seniors stayed back for a night. Leaders like me will travel by road or train," said a party leader from the Old City.
