\"Mohabbat ki dukaan...\" to be Congress' main online theme for 2024 Lok Sabha polls

NEW DELHI: Congress scion Rahul Gandhi's remark, "Nafrat ke bazaar mein, mohabbat ki dukan khol raha hun," is going to be one of the main online themes for the party during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. On Tuesday, the Congress released an animated video showing the BJP deploying divisive tactics and Rahul Gandhi taking down a "nafrat ka bazaar" and replacing it with a "mohabbat ki dukaan".

In the 1.43-minute video posted on the Congress' Twitter handle, an animated character of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seen driving a chariot with democracy, media and bureaucracy chained on top of the vehicle.

The video also shows an animated character of Union home minister Amit Shah trying to drive a wedge between a Hindu and a Muslim person, with Gandhi making an entry and uniting the,.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra that finished earlier this year is also part of the animated video. The video, which portrays Gandhi as a uniting factor, comes months after the BJP released a short animated video showing Modi marching ahead in his mission to serve society and being on course to make India a five-trillion dollar economy.

As Rahul Gandhi walks along, uniting people through the Bharat Jodo Yatra, tweaked lyrics of the iconic song Kisi ki muskuraahaton pe ho nisar from the Raj Kapoor-starrer Anari play in the background. The lines are tweaked to say, "Sabhi ke vaaste ho jiske dil mein pyaar, Gandhi usi ka naam hai."

The video also shows the Congress leader travelling in a truck. As he passes a ‘nafrat ka bazaar’ board, it falls down and a ‘mohabbat ki dukaan’ is seen in the background.

Though the video does not make any reference to elections, the online sparring between the Congress and the BJP has been hotting up, with both sides trading barbs through their social media handles. The BJP had earlier released an animated video in March showing the Prime Minister's journey from Gujarat to Delhi.
