Will not switch from Congress: Ponnam

Hyderabad: Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar dismissed reports on his changing party as baseless. While responding to queries, he said, “I am very much with the Congress and media reports about my switching party are fake. I will participate in the Kollapur meeting which will be attended by Priyanka Gandhi on July 30,” he said.
“Having risen through the Congress ranks over the years, I will work hard to bring the party back to power in the state as well as the Centre as an active worker under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge. From an ordinary NSUI cadre I rose to the position of the state president in united Andhra Pradesh and strengthened it,” he added.
Recalling his association with the party, Ponnam said, “I have dedicated 35 years of my life to the Congress party and had worked as working president of the party. I served as MARKFED chairman and Karimnagar member of Parliament and faced many insults from Andhra rulers during the Telangana agitation and even went to the brink of death in the pepper spray attack episode.”
“As a leader of the underprivileged communities, I will work for the people of Telangana and strengthen the party,” he added.
